 Abstract:
»Analysis of early modern love philosophy (Ficino, Hebreo et alia), as well as studies of burlesque love texts (Quevedo, Góngora et alia), abound in scholarship. The academy has yet to attend to usage of the love lexicon in common literary language as a means to disguise abusive intentions. This paper analyzes fictional character's use of the word 'love' to mean the pursuit of sex without regard to consent, as well as the same lexicon's employ in religious texts to mask an abusive divinity as constructed by the patriarchal tradition.«
